After returning to Minneapolis from Owatonna, I immediately took on the duty of cat-sitting for Janet’s kitties, Harley and Dot, again. She lives in south Minneapolis, so instead of driving between her house and home twice a day, I just spend the night there. Feed the kitties when I get to her house at night. Feed the kitties before I leave for my house in the morning. So, I haven’t slept in my own bed since last Thursday night/Friday morning. I’m so excited to go home tonight and not have to drive somewhere. My own bed! Just thinking about it makes me sleepy.

Steele County Fair
August 21st, 2005 — Berg Reunion
I spent the weekend in Owatonna with my parents, siblings, their significant others and my dad’s side of the family. It was time for the annual family reunion. It’s not usually close enough for me to attend, but not this year! There’s nothing like a vacation an hour away from your home.
We celebrated my sister’s birthday in the hotel the evening before the reunion.
The reunion lasted from noon to the late afternoon and the weather was so nice! I fell asleep in the grass at one point.
Afterwards we headed to the Steele County Free Fair — where the admission is free and everything else is not. But I went on some of the sick-inducing rides with my dad and brother. After the Zipper, Kamikaze, and two other upside-down-in-circles-wind-whipping-you-in-the-face rides, I was nauseated and done riding. But, woo! What a good time! The best part of the fair was meeting Cannonball Smith.
Me (overly excited): Are you Cannonball Smith??
Cannonball Smith: Yes!
Me: Can I take my picture with you?
CS: Of course!
(Karyn snaps the picture.)
Me: Thanks! Have a good jump!
I insisted on cheering him on before he shot himself over two running ferris wheels into a net. I embarrassed my mom. Oh, well — I think it really helped him out!
All in all, it was a pretty swell weekend!
Mill Ruins-O’s
August 17th, 2005 — Crafting, Twin Cities
Today I attended an all-day training on the West Bank of UMN’s campus. I amused myself by taking pictures. I ate lunch at Noodles. I admired the view. Since my car is a bicycle, I decided to explore around the Stone Arch Bridge on my way home after training. Then I finally took some pictures of my weird neighborhood.

Oh, also, I learned embroidery for my sister’s birthday gift this year. I’m proud of myself when I learn new crafts.
Penguin Dreams
August 17th, 2005 — Movie
I was just napping in bed and having half-conscious thoughts about mac-n-cheese with tuna and peas. I guess I know what I’ll be eating for dinner.
Someone wanna make it for me? I’m so sleepy. I’m going back to nap.
By the way, I’m cuddling a stuffed penguin that Karyn gave to me. After seeing March of the Penguins last night I want to hold every penguin and tell them things will be okay.
Pop and Lock in the Rain
August 15th, 2005 — Movie
Jen was over last night to do some laundry. While she was hanging out, she decided to watch Singin’ In the Rain. I tried to describe a commercial in which Gene Kelly is poppin’ and lockin’ and how it was the best thing ever. I just found it again, and thought I’d share it: Gene Kelly gets an update.
In the process of Googling this video, I also found this very entertaining site for Kollaboration.
