I Have Normal-Sized Thumbs

I visit Vermillion too often for not having my own car. I’m always hitching a ride!

Living in the moment

I made an impromptu trip to Madison, Wisconsin yesterday. I was visiting Bridget and Lindy. I was able to drive there since Karyn and Bryan had flown to Colorado and left me with her car. I didn’t let her know before I went, but I left her presents and washed their dishes before they returned Sunday PM. What is that saying – “Forgiveness is easier to ask for than permission?” Anyway, it was fabulous getting lost for the weekend.

I can’t pick one picture to represent my short trip, so here is what I look like in one of Madison’s many bars’ bathroom.

It was oodles of good, new experiences as I have never been to Madison before! I saw the Kraft Foods and Oscar Meyer factory (though no photo and no sightings of the Weiner Mobile – bummer!) I ate Madison’s #1 sandwich at Ella’s Deli (Pastrami and Corned Beef on Caraway Rye – added dijon mustard). I tried Spotted Cow beer. I witnessed Badger-style team spirit (it’s very loud). I drank on State Street. I witnessed two huge lakes in one smallish city and they both had such extremely different moods. And now I am eating cheese curds with a glass of wine before giving in to exhaustion.

It was totally fabulous. Bridget and Lindy are excellent hostesses and I recommend their services!

Right.

The first step to freedom is destroying the evidence, right?

Dirt, Scrabble and Cats

Yesterday was a very full day… Kristi and I left home around 10:30am to get to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival. We ate soups in breadbowls, a pickle, and nachos. We saw the Mud Show and tidbits of other shows. We walked a lot. And Karyn’s friend, Estelle, let us play dress-up at the shop in which she works.

We returned to Minneapolis around 4ish and met Karyn, Bryan and Barry at Dixie’s for some happy hour Scrabble.

… and then I met Barry’s kitties (Karyn and Bryan had already met them a couple weeks ago).

After a very welcome shower (the RenFest always leave a thick coat of dirt on one’s skin), I headed over to Janet’s house to stay with the kitties. I’ve posted photos of them before, but this time I took more, maybe better, photos. Harley is a darling boy, but he woke me up at least 3 times last night. I am tired today.

I’m all over this

So, last night I went to the 8th Street Grill in downtown Minneapolis with Kristi. She works a mere half-a-block away! Awesome. Some of her co-workers were there, too.

Afterwards, my co-worker, Mary, and her roommates were having a house party. The Amy that lives there turned 22 and the keg was gone by midnight!

Today my sister and I went down to Chaska, MN. Our dad’s cousin, Prayati, is having her first baby. Mmm, yummy, they served Indian food! And her house is absolutely gorgeous. I might move to Chaska for a house like hers. (My sister posted some other photos of the party on her website, thatonechick.com.)

As for right now, I am doing okay… I bought a very lovely bottle of Borsao (a wine from Spain) and I am having a couple glasses. I have had the worst headache all day. I think it might explode soon, but for now I’ll keep it in check with the Borsao. I need a massage. And a vacation. (Trip to visit Lynn in Boston is just over a month away! Can’t wait!)

I am very much looking forward to the RenFest tomorrow. I want some hot belly dancin’ action!
