Happy Tears

Things that I have eaten for free today at work:

  • Pizza Luce
  • Chocolate Chip Cookie
  • Cherry Cobbler (with home-grown cherries)
  • Two Mini Cupcakes from “Cupcake”
  • And I drank a Sprite.

It’s a fattening day at the museum.

Also, during staff meeting, we had a farewell tribute to Katie Nyberg, who works in our development office. Loads of cheesy wishes were sent her way and she was visibly moved — she’s been here 9 years and has accepted a new job in St. Paul. She will be missed!

And I would totally hate it if someone made me cry at staff meeting, even if they were happy tears. Which is why I can never leave this museum.

I want MY shows

I am SO OVER the Olympics on NBC! I just want to watch Medium and Law & Order and ER again. I don’t have cable! Next time the Olympics should be on CBS.

This crazy town

I took Friday off from work in order to clean the house and meet Kelsey, Cait and Elizabeth at Art With A Point in Uptown at 2pm. Kelsey had told Cait that for her 50th birthday, she would buy her a tattoo. Cait received a very lovely Celtic cross on the back of her left shoulder.

That evening, as I was playing hostess, I decided that the newly-tattooed Cait would feel right at home at Click Here to View Album

Afterwards it was too cold outside to do anything else, so we sat around my apartment watching TV shows about lawyers, eating cheese and drinking wine from Surdyk’s, and catching up. The next morning I brought them to Spring Street Tavern for a very klassy breakfast before they headed back to Vermillion.

I am assured that they had a very lovely visit to Minneapolis. Elizabeth was fun because she reminded me of how excited I was when I was a teenager and visiting Minneapolis and wanting to see shows at First Avenue and watching the news and it’ssomuchmoreexciting! I bet that Elizabeth will try living in Minneapolis someday — perhaps for college. Kelsey was fun because how often do I get to sleep in the living room and stay up babbling at someone ’til we pass out? Not often. Cait was fun because she asked me if I wanted to show my photos at the Vermillion Area Arts Council’s gallery. I was so excited that someone liked my photos that I printed out new photos to hang around my house on Saturday afternoon.

After visiting Target on Saturday, Jen came over and we played Karaoke Revolution and Dance Dance Revolution. Another friend from Vermillion, Kirsten, arrived around 5:30pm and we all went to dinner at Khan’s Mongolian Barbecue in Roseville. Yummy!

That night I rented movies (Monster-In-Law, Childstar, and Cake) and Sunday I didn’t even think about going outside since I was busy sleeping ’til noon, watching movies, and playing DDR/KR.

OCD

Cait and Kelsey are visiting tomorrow and Saturday, so the obsessive cleaning compulsion has begun with vaccuuming tonight. I sprinkled some carpet sugar stuff all over the place and it smells like SPRING here. But now I need to vaccuum my bedroom before the fishes go to sleep.

I’m also washing the futon cover and extraneous other things. I squished my finger in the futon frame and typing hurts just a little.

I’m going to have guests!

Taxes = Toys

This is the first year in many years that I’ve received a tax refund. So what did I do with it? I bought new toys last night!

I got two very nice dance pads for Dance Dance Revolution playing (and now I can play double-mat mode or with a friend) as well as a USB microphone and Karaoke Revolution. I hope Kristi doesn’t mind that I’m going to be party central 24/7 or until I wear myself out.

So. Anyway, I played with those for a while last night (even tried “Sing and Dance” mode on KR but I don’t have those skillz yet). Then it was time for real karaoke with real people. Instead of making myself look nice for the evening, I wasted too much time playing video games. And I should’ve spent time with my stupid hair because many friends came to ye olde Legend’s last night: Barry, Joe, Jen, Jen’s coworker Kristen, Brad, Kung and Kung’s friend whose name I have forgotten. Towards the end, RPM came over and hung out with us, too. I think I learned too much about Brenda’s personal life, but that is okay because she rocks. And I have suppressed every naughty thing that I witnessed last night. Also I didn’t take any photos.

A drunken Jen crashed on my couch last night (after Taco Bell gave us too many chalupas) and in exchange for hospitality, she drove me to work this morning. But I showed her how to play Karaoke Revolution before we left.
