You know how it is when you find something that you forgot you had? I forgot that I used to be obsessed with Barbies (just a few years ago, um) and that I purchased a few Halloween Barbies. I also made up for a very caucasian childhood and purchased an Asian Barbie and an African Ken. I even have a more recent Skipper. In any case, I’m bringing all of my Barbies home to my parents’ house this weekend. I’m too old to play with them and they’ve been shoved in my closet for the last two years… I already have a ridiculous amount of Barbies in storage at my parents’ house, too. When will the madness end? I may never grow out of loving Barbie.

Tonight’s speaker at Cafe Scientifique was Scott Lanyon, the director at the Bell Museum (where I work). He was talking about the “Tree of Life.”

Saturday night I invited my sister over to eat fancy cheese, drink not-so-fancy wine, and watch a movie. Kristi and I had parked near the cheese store at the Mall of America and got samples on our way into and out of the mall. Since we stopped by Surdyk’s on our way home, I decided to buy excessive amounts of cheese (thus wanting to share). I bought a pound of Leyden from Holland and a half pound of Porter Chedder from Ireland. I still had Mona Lisa Gouda left over from Cait, Kelsey and Elizabeth’s visit, too. Karyn brought over Scarface, tropical fruit, fancy crackers and a pear mustard. Kristi was with us and not too much later, Jon joined us, too. It was a nice evening.

I went to the Mall of America on Saturday with Kristi. She wanted to spend her hard-earned money and I wanted to get a drink somewhere (was feeling sore/tight from bellydancing that morning). After she satisfied her need for new clothing, I satisfied my need for a drink with a yummy Cosmo at the California Cafe — I also got a very delicious Butternut Squash Soup!

I’ve been neglecting my digital camera in order to take excessive RAZR photos. I figured out how to update via Flickr, so hopefully I’ll do that more often. I dunno. I’ve been up to stuff, but I actually have to go to a meeting right now so I will have to tell you later. The suspense!
