I have a monster amount of photos from the weekend…

I have a monster amount of photos from the weekend to share again. Posting them would be much easier if I had internet at home, but, alas, poor girls don’t deserve internet in their homes. Maybe in the future…

Anyway, so on Friday night Plastic Chord was playing at the Hexagon Bar. I met Ellie at Block E in downtown and we bussed to South Minneapolis together. She very much enjoyed their music and told me that she was their newest groupie, so I felt very proud of myself for having such wonderfully and musically talented friends. Rebecca was also wearing one of her creations as a clothing design major at the University of Minnesota, so she was extra impressive. Musical, stylish and able to sew!

And I took a little video at the end of the performance:

Next to play was It from Bit and in their audience was a fellow whose karaoke stage name at Legend’s was “LL Cool J.” I engaged him in some awkward conversation and then ran away.

On Saturday after a long, luxurious brunch with Kristi and Jen at the Spring Street Tavern, I tagged along with Kristi and Jared to see horses racing at Canterbury Park in Shakopee. I didn’t win big, but I didn’t bet big, either. I’m more educated for the next time I attend.

The striped fellow in the foreground of this picture said that we weren’t allowed to pay admission and instead handed us three free admission passes. He allowed us to have more money to spend on beer and betting! So that’s a nice little bonus.

And here are a few frames from one of the races that I didn’t win:

After the races, Jared’s friends were going to dinner in Mahtomedi. I wanted to go out to dinner, so we drove to Mahtomedi, too. I took a nap in the backseat because that was a very long drive and I had been drinking much beer. Sleepy sleepy time. Eventually we were there, Jared gave us a tour of his hometown then we joined his friends at Donatelli’s. It was slow, but my manicotti was delicious!

On Sunday I had a little brunch at the Calhoun Grill with Karyn, Bryan, Barry and Ali, afterwards visiting Whole Foods with Karyn and Bryan. I spent the remainder of the day doing laundry and sleeping, except for that hour in the afternoon when I was so sick of my apartment that I decided to visit Kowalski’s for the groceries that I didn’t think about buying that morning. Luckily, Jen visited me after that and we watched a movie. It’s exhausting to be bored on a Sunday because the next day is a work day and Sundays should really be enjoyed/taken advantage of… Oh, well.

Time for lunch.

Scion will be mine someday!

@ cd warehouse

Yesterday evening, I wandered over to CD Warehouse in Dinkytown for the second annual Scion-mania! This year my date was named Eliot and he was from Oregon. I test drove the xB for about 5 minutes and received a new Scion baseball-style t-shirt, a can of “Rock Star” energy drink, a compilation of hip-hop and electronic music mixed by Melo-D, and a $15 gift certificate to use on anything at CD Warehouse (I purchased Gomez, “How We Operate”).

Memories! Here is what I wrote about the event last year:

After work I was waiting for the bus at CD Warehouse and I was approached to test drive a Scion for a $15 gift certificate to buy a CD. So I said, “Okay.” I filled out the forms, got directed to the back of the store, where the cars were waiting, then a bunch of Scion peeps creeped me out and told me to go drive the xA with this boy. Josh or Nick or something practical. So I said, “Okay” and I started driving the car. It was like a mini-date in a car! It was fate. We talked about the real world. Then it was over and it was a pretty perfect conversation because this boy lives in L.A. and I shall never see him again.

Then I got my free $15 and bought the new NIN CD and, as luck would have it, I was able to purchase the dual-disc format, too! All for only $3 out of my pocket. I’m down.

I think I would really consider buying a Scion actually. It was cute in an ugly sort of way. I don’t like the xB, though. That one is just ugly in an ugly way.

I highly recommend you attend this event (you don’t have to drive, they are willing to drive you around). It is going on again today at CD Warehouse (corner of 4th St SE and 15th Ave SE in Minneapolis) from 11am–7pm.
