I joined Kristi and Jared at the Fineline Music Cafe last night for Johnny’s show. It was nice! I have another faded stamp on my hand, too.
Also he knows me as Pork-Chop, which is very pleasing.

The only evidence that I was at the Turf Club last night is a faded stamp on my hand… and that isn’t very good evidence. Plastic Chord was playing, but unfortunately they were next to last in a line-up of five bands. Kristi and I stayed long enough for some dude to scream at us, but then it got to be too late to be in St. Paul. So I hope they had a good show.
In other news, I have a crush on every boy. Too bad I don’t have enough energy to persue crushes. I’d rather cross stitch. (One of these days I will post photos of my first two cross stitch projects [patterns from Subversive Cross Stitch], but I can’t yet. One is a gift for Kristi’s birthday on Saturday and I don’t wanna ruin the surprise, of course.)
I don’t go to St. Paul very often since it would take me a long time to get there (I don’t own a car). I must say that it’s perfectly awesome that St. Paul is non-smoking now too (as of the end of March – I’m so behind). The Turf Club is 78% more attractive to me as a venue without all the smoke. They also removed the excessive amounts of Christmas lights and possibly painted? I felt much calmer there last night. But also I felt ever so slightly crazy, but I think that was the feeling of being out of my house on a school night. (Actually school starts next Tuesday.)
Tonight I may be headed to the Fine Line to see Johnny Charon play. We shall see how the events of day progress…

After work last night I just really wanted to go home and lay on my couch and be pathetic. I did that for a while, but by 7pm I was sick of myself. So I decided that I would venture out of my house for yet another Plastic Chord show. (You can catch them again on Tuesday the 29th at the Turf Club.)
It was fun and it was a good crowd of Plastic Chord fans at the 400 Bar. Orion’s parents made it to the show, also. Everyone was very happy. I had forgotten my real camera, but there were at least 4 other cameras taking photos. Plastic Chord is so photogenic!
Afterwards I went to Hard Times with Jason, Serg, Rebecca and Orion. They read City Pages and The Onion while I played with my phone. Also, Hard Times has good (homemade) salsa — my mouth was a little on fire and that is a good thing.

Rebecca has a summer gig painting faces at Como Town (at the Como Zoo). Last night she invited me to an employee party held on a riverboat in St. Paul. 3 hours of cruising on the Mississippi? Extreme summer awesomeness. I should do that at least once a week
This dilapidated building had a secret…
… and the secret was more condos!
One of these riverbank boys mooned us! Very exciting.
Afterwards we wanted more fun, so we went to the Dinkytowner for Ladies’ night. Some of Rebecca’s friends were there and we were all taking photos of ourselves because what else is there to do at a bar? Also Rebecca and I played pool and it might have been the worst game ever, but a good buzz helps you not notice so much.
And before we left, Rebecca and I thought about what it would be like to go to work in the early A.M., just mere hours away…
It was a fun evening! I didn’t really meet anyone new aside from Kailyn and Jamie, but I’ve seen them at Plastic Chord shows. Maybe now I’ll talk to them at the shows, too.
Speaking of! Plastic Chord is playing the 400 Bar tomorrow (Wednesday the 23rd). 8:30pm, $5 cover, 21+. It will be a rollicking good time if you’re so inclined to come and watch and cheer and hoot and holler, etc.
