Plastic Chord / Fresh Faces

Psst… If you’re looking for some beer on this chilly Halloween night, you should come to the Uptown Bar for Plastic Chord (at 9 p.m.) and some other rockstars. I’ve heard a rumor that there will be costumes involved! (By the way: Danke, Jale! I’ll try to snap some photos for you tonight!)

In other news, I’m freaking out just a little bit and I can’t wait until my birthday because that will be awesome and everything that is stressing me out will be over. I am going to try to upload some more photos during class tonight, but I’m not making promises.

Oh! But here is my composite photo for the “Fresh Faces” assignment in my digital photography class (you can rate him on HOT or NOT, too!):

My coworkers (and the lovely Johanna) are pretty awesome for letting me use their faces!

At the 400 Bar

So, the show last night was fun. Kristi and I arrived just a bit late and missed some of Planes for Spaces already short set. Rebecca was cute, though, and their music seemed fun. I didn’t get many photos of them because there were many people crowded around the front of the stage.

Figurines played after them and they were so hipster-euro-stylish. They had nice music, too. I had a crush on them, though I felt bad for the dude in the fancy blue suit who was stuck in the back corner with no lights.

There were so many boys in skinny jeans last night! I was distracted/distressed/intrigued by that.

Plastic Chord plays the 400 Bar tomorrow with Semi-Precious Weapons, though I’m not sure that I can afford more fun this close to the end of the month. They are also playing the Uptown Bar on Halloween, but then I have class that day. As their top groupie, I am disappointed with myself for thinking about missing these shows.

Have I complained to you yet about how stupid busy this autumn has been/will be? Coming up is the GRE, for which I have every intention of studying. I wish I had a study-buddy, though. It would be nice to be nervous with someone else.

Also, I keep scolding myself about my photo gallery—it’s getting a bit overloaded and I need to clean it up. However, deleting crap photos and resizing and all of that is not something I want to spend time doing right now. So it will continue to be slow with the loading.

Ok, now I have to do work which is what I was supposed to be doing all along.

Planes for Spaces

My talented and fashionable friend, Rebecca, has joined a new band, Planes for Spaces. I met her over the lunch hour to pick up some tickets to her first show with them tonight at the 400 Bar. It is going to be filled with hardcore hipster action! I am definitely bringing my camera.

Figurines will be playing, too. I am looking forward to hearing some new music tonight. I ♥ being a groupie!

I hope when my friends are huge rock stars that they do not forget about me and how much I like taking photos of them. They should bring me on the road with them!

Here’s a Hint

Somebody’s 25th birthday (MINE) is approaching quickly.

Here is (almost) exactly the wishlist that I emailed my family today:

  • spiral-bound book for writing in recipes.
  • a knife block for my wee kitchen.
  • a comforter for my bed.
  • a kitten.

Here is what I really want:

  • a new digital camera, preferably SLR but higher than 8 megapixels would be nice, too
  • a kitten.

Seriously, a new camera and a new kitten of which to take excessive (and GIGANTIC) photos? I can’t think of a better way to spend any birthday.

Recap of the Week

I’m so sleepy right now.

Friday: attended the Pattern Language exhibit preview at the Weisman Art Museum with Rebecca. It was fun to watch the three teams of seniors create garments in just 3 or 4 hours and I met some more awesome Clothing Design majors. Maybe I will see them if I get into the College of Design for graduate school next Fall…

Afterwards, I joined Rebecca and a few of her friends for dancing and nearly-naked-men-watching at the Gay 90′s. It wasn’t as sleazy as I remember, but the drinks are still really strong.

Saturday: hungover and tired. I slept all day, until I had to go the Bell Museum that night and take a few photos at the Peter Ostroushko concert. It was really interesting music and we saw a clip from the new episode of “Minnesota: A History of the Land.” Then I went home and went back to bed. Sleeping is nice.

Sunday: woke up early-ish and went to the grocery store to buy the fixins’ for chili. After putting everything in the crockpot, Kristi came over. We watched a few episodes of Medium on DVD then went for a lovely walk in Loring Park and the Walker Museum‘s Sculpture Garden. Then we ate chili! She eventually left and I wasted the rest of the night.

Yesterday: first critique in my digital photography class. I don’t have the image I created (face composite) – I have to remember to get that the next time I’m in the lab. I did pretty well, though. It’s fun, though. I also registered for the GRE in early November.

Today: busy day at the museum, but now I’m in class — and I need to work on my new website. So… Auf wiedersehen!
