Happy Birthday to me!
November 9th, 2006 — News
(Can I have a P.S. before an update? Here it is: P.S. Jale, I did not make the bat wings. I borrowed my costume from a small collection at the Bell Museum. A coworker borrowed the otter costume and later reported that she won a costume contest for Halloween!)
Friday the 3rd (evening): Celebrated Johanna’s birthday all over Minneapolis with her friends. Her house in the Seward neighborhood > Clicquot Club (though they were full and we didn’t stay) > Birchwood Cafe > Pracna > Nye’s. Johanna and I got a little silly, but not too silly. Then I stayed up ’til 3am watching All of Me and trying to prevent a hangover by drinking a ton of water.
Saturday the 4th: Mild headache in the morning! Mad at my body. Then raked a coworker’s yard in Deephaven, MN from 10am–4:30pm-ish. Very sore, acquired blister on thumb. Cancelled plans to study for GRE with Jason. Laid on couch all evening, was asleep by 10pm. Pathetic.
Sunday the 5th: Very emo and worried about GRE skillz all day. Spent all day between practice tests and reading a book that was written for teenagers (“The Boyfriend List” by E. Lockhart). Was okay with my un-intelligence by bedtime.
Monday the 6th: Work and class, nothing exciting. Don’t remember what I did that night but it wasn’t exciting.
Tuesday the 7th: GRE at 11am and I did well! Am satisfied with my score and am re-encouraged about graduate school options. Voted in my new precinct. Went home to lay on couch for the rest of the afternoon and it was g-l-o-r-i-o-u-s!
Yesterday: Also not exciting.
Today: See yesterday, but at least today is the first official Bell Museum happy hour (will attend in approximately 1/2 hour).
Tomorrow: No plans for excitement yet. Might spend evening doing homework that has been neglected (working on this website*).
Saturday: Early morning meeting with College of Design professors and admissions representatives to get excited about graduate school. Chocolate Show to photograph the lovely Rebecca’s clothing designs and feel fabulous. Birthday party for Bertine. Kegger at Chess and Andy’s home.
Sunday: Hopefully bloody marys! Additional afternoon celebration for myself at Brit’s Pub. Will eat Scotch Eggs and maybe some bangers or mash.
Monday: My 25th Birthday. I’m going to love being me all day.
Time for beer! I must flee.

Hey, photos! There are quite a few to see, so be sure to visit the gallery.
Last Saturday started in South Minneapolis at a birthday party for Orion. Kristi was a child molester and Jared was her prey. I was a bat (but had temporarily taken off my wings by the time I took out my camera). Areca was a devil. And no one else was dressed up because it wasn’t really a Halloween party.

Next, Kristi, Jared and I drove to Northeast Minneapolis for Seth’s Halloween Party (Seth was a cocaine dealer from the 70s). His/his roommates friends also had some very clever costumes! I was kind of secretly in love with the Clockwork Orange boy. But that’s weird, right?

I got a photo of my wings when I got home. I had to make a makeshift tripod, which just happened to catch the mess on my kitchen counter. But: bat wings!

On Tuesday night (aka Halloween), Plastic Chord played at the Uptown Bar. They were exceptionally photogenic and I got a little carried away. Orion was David Byrne (why such a big suit?), Rebecca was a geisha, Nick B. and Logan were sleazeballs/cocaine dealers (from the 80s?) who were both shot in the head, Nick A. was a devil, and Serg was a sailor. Other fans included a couple lions, a couple dinosaurs, Elvis, nerdy girls and a guy with two ties. Much fun!

And now I must get to studying for the big test on Tuesday. Ciao!

The Plastic Chord show last night was a hoot… I took about a million photos because they were all especially photogenic last night. I did not, however, take any photos with my phone during the show.
Afterwards I felt naughty because I went for a late night enchilada with Jason and a new friend, Maren, at Little Tijuana’s. They had never been before and I hope I didn’t make it sound more awesome than it is (though it is quite awesome). Little T’s is great and thinking of it gives me warm fuzzies.
I got to bed around 1:30am and I am surprisingly capable today. Even without giving in to the temptation of buying a chai! The whole evening (and my chipper attitude today) just proves that I am more awesome as a sober photographer chick. Another lesson learned.
Anyway, the photos that I didn’t promise you last night and the photos that I took last night will be coming to you on Friday. I have the day off from work so I can study for the looming GRE test (Tuesday! Eep!) but I will find a half hour to upload photos.
