Problems at home.

Water in my Ceiling

Any minute now I’ll get crackin’ on my homework, but first I need to update you about the status of this place I call home.

About the photo: it’s been a very wet Spring here on Linden Avenue.

About a month ago I had a flood into my bedroom from my fire escape (which was actually not Spring related, but hose related, I guess). That stayed wet for about a week. There is still a dirt stain I need to clean up.

Tuesday morning I called maintenance about a water leak and a ceiling bubble that I noticed in my bedroom on Monday night. I came home yesterday to a poor spackling job that seemed to be a “fix” for the water damage on the wall. Nothing appeared to be different about the ceiling, but I noticed a small bubble on the bubble. I called before going to sleep.

Today I came home to a rug that was soaked and the bubble on the bubble is clearly the source of the problem. So far only the rug (and the carpet underneath) has been affected.

Except now this place stinks like mildew and cat litter. How am I supposed to feel zen when I’m probably being poisoned by mold spores? And where is the maintenance dude?

Happy Hour strikes again!

at 8th Street

This week I did not visit any coffee shops and instead made all of my latte-like beverages at home, before leaving in the mornings. Money saving!

I did, however, attend two happy hours. Which I think is a better way of spending my money, anyway.

Caffeinated beverages = going to work.

Alcoholic beverages = work is done.

Home on the Range

I visited some horses in Wisconsin with Rebecca. It was a very lovely morning.

I just completely got sucked into a Law & Order about a girl with a vlog tonight. It was good. I love Chris Noth.

Only two more days of class left. I will be spending my weekend at the computer because I’m obviously not finishing things right now.

Photographs Amplified

It has been quite a while since I’ve written. I’m always thinking about writing, but I never seem to get around to it. This will be brief since it is, after all, not even 8am on a Saturday, and I think I’m almost ready to go back to bed.

Jen came to visit and I took some silly photos with my RAZR: click here for photos.

Karyn and Bryan moved into their new house last weekend. They hired movers, so we didn’t have to fuss too much with that stuff. Dad and Ryan came up to help—reframing doorways and painting K & B’s bedroom. There was a lot of moving around of boxes, which was probably the most exhausting part. Boxes are heavy.

I went to Voltage on Wednesday, which was super fun. Crappy photos from my RAZR are here.

Rebecca is a birthday girl on Monday. Happy birthday, darling!

And I’ve spent the last two days on my couch/in the bathroom with the most horrible bout of food poisoning or flu or something equally as disgusting. My stomach is still feeling just a titch squiggly, but I’m hoping to get out into nature and take a walk today.

That is, of course, after I go back to bed for a few hours. Good morning!

This is why I call him “Weirdo.”

@ home

Lynn: I love Amy Winehouse’s “Rehab”—it sounds like something that would be on a John Waters CD
Me: Ellipses likes it too, he came over and sat next to compy [while I listened to the song]
Lynn: I am surprised you could pull him off the toilet! I love that he does that
