June 22nd, 2009 — Berg Reunion, Family
Scott and Diane hosted the 2009 reunion of the Berg family. Diane is my dad’s cousin, so there were quite a few extended family members present—we don’t see each other very often!
Mom and Dad came up for the reunion, and prepared a lot of fruit to share (watermelon, pineapple, strawberries, blueberries, and cantaloupe).
Hannie had her first meeting with one of her great grandparents, Grandma Dee.
Hannie met a lot of new people at the reunion, actually. (Or should that be “of course”?)
Timber was the only pup at the party. He’s 12 years old, happy, and enthusiastic.
It is sort of rude to take photos of people (a) from above and (b) while they’re eating. I did it anyway.
Diane’s nickname is Dino, but I’m not sure why. Hazel, Diane’s mom/my dad’s aunt, used to give me homemade Barbie clothes that she’d knit.
I could only stay long enough to eat lunch and briefly chat with everyone, as I had to run off to Rock the Garden at the Walker Art Center (photos coming soon).
August 21st, 2005 — Berg Reunion
I spent the weekend in Owatonna with my parents, siblings, their significant others and my dad’s side of the family. It was time for the annual family reunion. It’s not usually close enough for me to attend, but not this year! There’s nothing like a vacation an hour away from your home.
We celebrated my sister’s birthday in the hotel the evening before the reunion.

The reunion lasted from noon to the late afternoon and the weather was so nice! I fell asleep in the grass at one point.

Afterwards we headed to the Steele County Free Fair — where the admission is free and everything else is not. But I went on some of the sick-inducing rides with my dad and brother. After the Zipper, Kamikaze, and two other upside-down-in-circles-wind-whipping-you-in-the-face rides, I was nauseated and done riding. But, woo! What a good time! The best part of the fair was meeting Cannonball Smith.
Me (overly excited): Are you Cannonball Smith??
Cannonball Smith: Yes!
Me: Can I take my picture with you?
CS: Of course!
(Karyn snaps the picture.)
Me: Thanks! Have a good jump!

I insisted on cheering him on before he shot himself over two running ferris wheels into a net. I embarrassed my mom. Oh, well — I think it really helped him out!
All in all, it was a pretty swell weekend!
August 2nd, 2005 — Berg Reunion, Friends, Random Fun, School, Twin Cities, Work
Where, oh, where have I been?
It is officially August and I am officially seriously lacking in motivation. Also, I seem to acquired a cold or something. With that and all the Minnesota humidity, my brain has turned to mush. But, no matter! I shall persevere… Or at least finally take some time to post pictures.
Well, first of all, Lynn came to visit way back in June and I have finally uploaded my photos. There actually aren’t that many from her visit, but I did get some interesting photos from the 2005 Pride festivities, too.

Mid-July, Kristi and I went to visit our gal, Rebecca, at Como Zoo for some wholesome face painting action! Why we picked such a hot, face-melty day to go, I’ll never know.

Then, about a week and a half ago, my family came to visit my sister and I in the cities during Aquatennial festivities. We actually missed the Carribean Fest and went to the Science Museum instead, but we did catch the fireworks one evening. Lumped together (due to laziness) are many photos of flowers, the cats I get to pretend are mine sometimes, and “artsy” photos I took during my latest outing to the Turf Club to see Mike Gunther play.

What else has been going on? Hmm… Today (and for the rest of the week) I get to enjoy two different training courses for Excel and FilemakerPro. I’m so nerdy that I’m actually kind of excited to see what sorts of new tips I’ll pick up for these programs. I use them for a lot of my work and I think I’ll be using them a lot more in the future.
Jen moved out of the South Dakota house, so it is just me and Kristi until September or October. Hopefully we can fill the spare room with someone just as fun and lovely as Jen, but we aren’t in a big rush yet. I’m rather starting to enjoy my boring afternoons from 5–8:30ish while Kristi is still at work, but I ought to start working on my editing course instead of sleeping. Once I’m healthy, this is what I’ll do. Perhaps.
I don’t have much happening these days… No vacations planned, though I may have some visitors soon. My family is having a reunion in Owatonna at the end of the month… August will be a very quiet month, and that’s okay. Because starting in September, I’ll be taking two evening classes and an additional distance course (which is another reason to finish up my editing course quickly) on top of my 40 hour work-week. Yikes.
