Stonearch and More

I have been on a roll at work, therefore forgetting to upload my photos from the Stonearch Arts Festival last weekend. My cousin, Jamie, called me Saturday morning and asked if I wanted to join her and my aunt, Laurie, because they were going. Since I had been laying in my bed, staring at the ceiling, wondering what to do with my morning, I got up and ready with lightning-fast speed! It was hot outside, but there was a lot of nice art and I also bought some spicy “Jamaican” peanuts from a cute, old man.

Sullivans are from my mother’s side of my family (I’m approximately 25% Irish). Today I am dreaming about celebrating my upcoming 25th birthday in Ireland (Kristi and I have talked about making the trip for the past couple years). I should start a campaign right now. Maybe if enough money is donated I will change my last name to Sullivan. Or maybe not. That would be so strange.

I bet the photos I take this weekend at the Minneapolis Pride festival will look very similar to these (but there will be more skin and more leather).

Saturday afternoon/evening, my pal, Mary, picked me up and we went to Micheal’s for crafting supplies. I learned cross stitch via Subversive Cross Stitch and my first project is approximately 50% completed. It’s gonna rock when it’s done and framed. I also intended to give it to a friend, but maybe I want to keep it and make a different one for her. (I also picked up a pattern for a lovely traditional Japanese woman — “Mai” — and it looks really daunting. I may never finish it, ever.)

Sunday was relaxing — I finally ventured over to the Espresso Royale Cafe that is just a couple blocks from my house. I spent a couple hours there, cross stitching and hoping to people watch. There just aren’t very many MCAD/MCTC students at coffee shops during the summer, I guess.

That evening, Barry and I went to karaoke at O’Donovan’s. I had fun and I think I’d like to go back, but… Monday night we went on karaoke overload at U Otter Stop Inn. It was the same karaoke DJs from O’Donovan’s (one was sassy and interesting, the other was “in training”) and I’m not sure that being at the U Otter didn’t ruin them for me. That was a stressful environment and I stayed too long (hindsight tells me that I should’ve gone home when Barry went home, instead of staying out longer with Jen and company). [Oh, yes — side note: we tried going to Mackenzie’s for karaoke on Monday but it was canceled for the night. They also did not have the “super toast” that Barry desired. He was promised better (and free?) super toast by the waitress if we return next Monday, but there may have been too much karaoke recently. We shall see.]

Tuesday night I finally watched Winged Migration and it was beautiful and fascinating. The red-breasted goose was my favorite (after the penguins, of course).

Last night and tonight will be similar in that I will be at home, not moving much. After all of the excitement of last weekend and early this weekend, I am feeling quite sleepy all of the time. Hopefully I can wake up before attending Pride festivities with Kristi this weekend!
